- 12 slider buns or small dinner rolls
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
- 6 slices sharp cheddar cheese, halved
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite variety)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Optional: sliced pickles or jalapeños for extra kick
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with foil for easy cleanup.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until fully browned and crumbled, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping them in one piece if possible for easy layering.
- Place the bottom halves of the buns in the prepared baking dish. Evenly spread the cooked sausage over the bottom buns.
- Drizzle BBQ sauce generously over the sausage layer, then top with halved cheddar slices.
- Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese layer.
- Brush the melted butter over the tops of the buns to encourage a golden, crispy finish.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are lightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
