Hearty and Delicious Cowboy Breakfast Sliders for Your Morning Fix

Learn how to make delicious Cowboy Breakfast Sliders. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients that bring bold flavors without fuss. I always choose fresh, high-quality sausage and freshly baked slider buns when possible. Using real cheddar cheese adds that rich, creamy texture that melts beautifully. My mom’s kitchen taught me that simple ingredients can shine when chosen thoughtfully — and that’s exactly what these sliders are all about.

  • 12 slider buns or small dinner rolls
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
  • 6 slices sharp cheddar cheese, halved
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite variety)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Optional: sliced pickles or jalapeños for extra kick

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until fully browned and crumbled, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping them in one piece if possible for easy layering.
  4. Place the bottom halves of the buns in the prepared baking dish. Evenly spread the cooked sausage over the bottom buns.
  5. Drizzle BBQ sauce generously over the sausage layer, then top with halved cheddar slices.
  6. Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese layer.
  7. Brush the melted butter over the tops of the buns to encourage a golden, crispy finish.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are lightly browned.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
