Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting fresh, simple ingredients that shine on their own. I always recommend using quality chicken breasts and crisp bacon because those flavors really carry the dish. The honey mustard sauce is easy to whip up at home, which gives you control over sweetness and tanginess. Whenever possible, I like to use fresh lettuce and ripe tomatoes to add that refreshing crunch and balance the richness. If you’re short on time, pre-cooked chicken or store-bought honey mustard can work, but homemade always tastes best in my book.
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8 slider buns
- 6 slices crispy cooked bacon
- 1 cup shredded lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Butter or oil, for cooking chicken
Instructions
- Start by preparing the honey mustard sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the chicken breasts for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove from pan and let rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the chicken breasts into slider-sized pieces, about the width of the buns.
- Slice the slider buns in half and toast them lightly in the same pan or oven for added texture and warmth.
- Assemble each slider by spreading a generous spoonful of honey mustard sauce on the bottom bun, layering with a piece of chicken, a slice of tomato, some shredded lettuce, and finally a strip of crispy bacon.
- Top with the bun lid and serve immediately while warm and juicy.
